WASHINGTON: Rejecting Indian influence in imposition of new curbs on Pakistan military aid from US, Senator Bob Corker said, “New conditions on Pakistan military assistance for anti-terrorism purpose were not aimed at pleasing India”.
Briefing media here, he said, “We have not imposed new sanctions on Pakistan military assistance in order to please India but we desire to regulate our assistance as per will of US administration.”
“Because the anti-militancy assistance gets dispensed by US administration, which should be utilized in accordance with the wishes of donor”, he added.
It is incumbent upon Pakistan government to spend US military aid, which it was meant for, he added.
Corker said US considers Pak-US ties utterly important and necessary for two countries and Pakistan’s efforts to uproot militancy are highly commendable and must be encouraged.
It may be mentioned, US Senator Bob Corker paid a visit to restive Swat valley during this August, besides, he was among major players who contributed imposition of new sanction on US’s anti-militancy assistance for Pakistan.
