Public pays extra Rs4.5 bln on sugar last month


KARACHI: People are still facing the music while bidding to buy sugar despite paying off additional 4.5 billion rupees during last month, Geo news reported on Monday.

According to details, SC, on October 3, 2009, directed government to ensure selling of sugar at Rs. 40/kg all across country but it was not even available at rupees 50/kg in markets.

Moreover, sugar was and still being sold up to Rs.100/kg in some parts of country multiplying problems for public, sources said, adding, both government and judiciary have badly failed in ensuring sale of sugar at Rs.40/kg.
