KARACHI: The lawyers’ movement leader, Justice (retd) Rasheed A Razvi, has been elected as the president of the Sindh High Court Bar Association (SHCBA) for a third consecutive term.
Razvi overwhelmed his rival, former Advocate General Anwar Mansoor Khan, by getting 701 votes out of total 1302 votes cast by the voters. This is fourth time that Razvi has been elected as President of SHCBA as earlier in 2000, he held the same post.
Polling was held from 9am to 6pm and some 1302 votes were cast out of a total 1589 registered votes.
According to the result announced by Election Commissioner, Abdul Muqtadir Khan, Z.K Jatoi advocate was elected as Vice President with 694 votes while Abid S Zuberi was declared as a return candidate for the office of Honorary Secretary with 678 votes.
Majid Noman Khan was declared successful for the post of treasurer with 488 votes while Masooada Siraj has been elected un-opposed as the joint secretary.
The nine members who were elected for SHCBA’s managing committee include Zahida Khatoon, Manzoor Ahmed Rajput, Masood Ahmed Siddiqui, Akhlaq Ahmed, Khalid Hameed, Ahmed Khan Bugti, Mirza Sarfaraz, Mahmood Abbas and Shahnaz Ishtiaq.
