Shia Board Seeks Urdu Translation Of Vande Matram

Shia Board Seeks Urdu Translation Of Vande MatramLucknow: Amid a controversy over the recitation of Vande Matraman by Muslims, the All India Shia Personal Law Board has requested the Center for the national anthem translated into Urdu to help the community understand the true meaning and spirit of the song.

Chairman Maulana Mirza Mohammad Athar has sent a letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, copies of which had also been sent to the President, to arrange a proper Tarjum “(translation) of Vande Matraman at the earliest.

“The controversy over Vande Matraman is nothing new, while part of the community leaders opposed to his recital of Muslims, some even favor it,” AISPLB spokesman said Yasoob Maulana Abbas.

He said efforts should be made to eliminate the controversy over the song once and for all.

“Getting a correct and authentic Tarjum Vande Matraman in Urdu is the best option as it will help Muslims decide if they want to recite the national song or not,” he said.

He said the controversy repeats Vande Matraman is leading to “hate” between the two communities.

“A worthless debate is taking place on the issue, which is communally sensitive. Muslims should be informed about the true meaning and spirit of Vande Matraman, Maulana Abbas.
