PESHAWAR: Two militants have been killed and six injured during clashes between militants and security forces in Mohmand Agency.

FC sources said two militants were killed and two wounded in retaliatory action of forces after militants attack in Bhahay Daak camp in tehsil Baizai.

PESHAWAR: Security forces continue day long operation in Mohmand Agency and 15 extremists were killed and many other sustained injuries in clashes Thursday.

According to FC sources, clashes between security forces and extremists continued all day in some districts of the Agency.

In the operation security forces used heavy artillery and continued shelling by helicopters.

Meanwhile two other terrorists were also arrested in the operation and two extremists hideouts and 10 houses destroyed.

Bannu: Nineteen peoples have been killed in clashes between Qaumi Lashker and extremists.

According to sources extremists opened fire on a peace Jirga in Jani Khel area of District Bannu.

In the attack the Chief of Jani Khel tribe and six other elites were killed, while five others including a child sustained injuries.

The dead bodies of the deceased have been moved to District Hospital Bannu.

The Qaumi Lashker of Jani Khel tribe decided to kill the extremists on sight starting action against such elements in Jani Khel.

So far 12 people have been killed in clashes between Qaumi Lashker and extremists including four citizens, six extremists and two members of the Qaumi Lashker.

ABUJA: Sixty-five people were killed in clashes between security forces and Islamist militants in weekend attacks in northern Nigeria, the country’’s police chief said Monday.

“Five policemen have been killed, one police station burnt and 60 Talibans killed,” police Inspector-General Ogbonna Onovo told reporters, referring to an Islamist sect styled on Afghanistan’’s Taliban.

RAWALPINDI: The military operation Rah-e-Rast against the suspected militants is underway in Malakand Division meanwhile, fierce skirmishes between the National Lashkar and extremists are also intensifying in Upper Dir whereas the relaxation in curfew has been announced in parts of Swat valley and Lower Dir on Friday, Geo news said.

According to sources, the security forces continued pounding militants’ suspected sanctuaries with different interval of time located in parts of Swat and Lower Dir on Thursday but no causality was reported.

Later in Upper Dir, the fierce clashes between the local Lashkar and militants remained underway as Swat Media Center said that curfew has been relaxed from 8am to 6pm in the restive parts of Swat and Malakand.

According to Dir media center, the curfew will remain relaxed from 6am to 8pm in tehsil Maidan and Adenzai of Lower Dir.

KARACHI: Pakistan Electric Power Company (PEPCO) has presented to the Ministry of Water and Electricity the investigative report on long-hour power breakdown here on Thursday, Geo news reported.

The report indicated the negligence rendered by KESC administration and faults in system.

The investigative report was compiled on the long-hour power breakdown occurred in Karachi on June 17 and 18 and on June 25 which left metropolis dark for 16 hours.

The power failure was caused by sudden breakage in the high power transmission line of PEPCO near Gadap but KESC completely failed to restore electricity through power plants, report said.

The situation led to serious suffering faced by Karachiites, which erupted violence in various parts of city while KESC’s failure was profoundly contributed by the Kunda system and flaws in electric distribution system, it added.

According to sources, PEPCO has recommended Ministry through this investigative report to change KESC administration together with investment in the electricity generation system to avert power crisis.

The report will shortly be presented Premier Gilani, sources added.

PARACHINAR: At least 27 people were Wednesday killed in clashes between two groups in Kurram Agency.

According to sources, two groups clashed with each other in Kurram Agency area of Mangak, killing 21 people including a commander of a group; while, six from other group were killed.

The most of bodies have been taken to Parachinar. The whole area is tense following the clashes.

TEHRAN: Iranian state television said 13people had been killed in clashes between police and “terroristgroups” in Tehran, in an apparent reference to street unrest inthe capital on Saturday.

Iran’’s English-language Press TV also said “rioters” had settwo gas stations on fire and attacked a military post.

“Thirteen people killed in police clashes with terrorist groups in Tehran,” it said in a headline.

State television earlier said Iran’’s Intelligence Ministry had arrested members of an exiled opposition group it accused of “terrorist activities” including setting buses on fire and destroying public property.
