ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani on Sunday strongly condemned the suicide attack in Matni, Peshawar and death of Union Nazim.
The two leaders termed the attack that killed the UC Nazim Aydze Abdul Malik as barbaric and said the government will continue efforts to wipe out extremists and terrorists from the country.
In separate messages the two leaders expressed their resolve not to be deterred by acts of violence. The President sought a report into the incident while the Prime Minister ordered an enquiry into the apparent suicide attack at the weekly livestock market.
The two leaders expressed deep sorrow over those who lost their lives and prayed Allah Almighty to shower his blessings on the departed souls. They also directed best possible medical treatment for the injured.

LAHORE: Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani Sunday said the government did not let National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) become an issue of ego and that nobody won or lost on this issue.
Talking to media, the Premier said NRO is a thing of past, therefore, there is need for bringing it up anymore.
He said the government reinstated the Chief Justice and the deposed judiciary through an executive order.
He said Balochistan issue is not a new one, as the province has been facing deprivation for the last 62 years. We are also well aware of the terrorist activities in Balochistan and that exchange of views will be held during meeting with PML-N Chief Nawaz Sharif, he added.
To a question, he said Kerry Lugar Bill is a US law and not Pakistan’s. “No compromise will be made on the national security and nuclear program of Pakistan,” he asserted, adding, it is up to us to either accept or reject the aid under KLB.
He said it was the decision of the judiciary to present NRO before the Parliament.

LAHORE: The Chief Minister Punjab Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif said Monday nigh he has resolved to reach High Court against by-polls over reports of possible terror attacks issued by federal government.
This he said talking to media after enquiring about the health condition of Zahid Anwar, husband of Tehmina Doltana, here at Sheikh Zad Hospital.
He said Punjab government did not deter of by-polls but this decision came after reports reached here in regard to avoid possible terrorist strikes and to thwart threats posed to chief politicians in Punjab.
The by-polls, if were held in haste, might hit blow to peace and order in province while new wave of terrorism in NWFP has yet another time damaged peace in province, he observed.

ISLAMABAD: Adviser on Petroleum Dr Asim Hussain said Saudi Arabian government did not give free of cost oil to Pakistan after 2005.
Talking to a local news channel, he said the decision regarding enforcing the carbon tax was not taken in the drawing room; instead, it was approved by the parliament; however, the verdict of the higher judiciary will be respected.
