Ramesh Said Bt Will Destroy Brinjal’s Ayurvedic Value,Experts Beg To Differ

Ramesh Said Bt Will Destroy Brinjal’s Ayurvedic Value,Experts Beg To DifferRamesh Said Bt Will Destroy Brinjal’s Ayurvedic Value,Experts Beg To Differ: Latest Updates About Ramesh Said Bt Will Destroy Brinjal’s Ayurvedic Value,Experts Beg To Differ:

One of the claims Environment Minister Jairam Ramesh made to justify his freeze on Bt brinjal was that the Bt gene would “destroy the medicinal properties of brinjal” which is used in several “traditional” forms of medicine.

This claim, too, is being contested by experts as Ramesh comes under increasing pressure from within his government — the Prime Minister has called a meeting after Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar warned against “ad hoc” decisions on GM food that could set the “clock back” and demoralise Indian scientists.

“I have also been informed that Indian systems of medicine, including ayurveda, siddha, homeopathy and unani, use brinjal as a medicinal ingredient both in raw and cooked form for treatment of respiratory diseases and that the entire brinjal plant is used in such preparations,” said Ramesh in his written statement while announcing the freeze.

Stay On Sukhna Scam General’s Court Martial

The Armed Forces Tribunal on Monday stayed court martial proceeding against retired military secretary Lt Gen Avadhesh Prakash in the Sukna land scam.
The court martial, ordered against Prakash after his indictment by a court of inquiry (COI), was to start on February 25 in Kolkata.
A two-member tribunal bench quashed the findings of the COI, which had indicted Prakash for using his official position to pressure the staff of the 33, Corps — based in Sukna, West Bengal — to facilitate the transfer of a plot of land to his family friend, Dilip Agarwal.
The Bench ordered a fresh CoI, to be completed within two months.
Observing that army rule was “violated” during the COI, the Bench said Prakash would get the chance to cross-examine the six witnesses who deposed against him. “It will be open to the petitioner to lead any evidence by calling witness or producing documentary evidence,” it said.

Hawk Panther

Hawk PantherHawk Panther: latest news about updates in Hawk Panther ,hawkpanther, les singer, bloom box wikipediabloom energywikipedia, marianne baronin brandstetter, I see that a couple of posts have no comments on them and I kind of wondered why? I reasoned that I said nothing that anyone felt was worth commenting on, which is fair enough. Comments really inspire me to write more, so I thought about what to do? What I thought is that rather than just post pictures of my mechs, sans pretty much anything, I would add some comments and fluff, which will hopefully generate more comments. My favourite Battletech mechs come mostly from the anime show Fang of the Sun Dougram, known in Japan as Taiy? no Kiba Daguramu. This is one of three shows that FASA used the mechs from for their Battledroids game, which due to Lucas Films owning the word “droid” was renamed Battletech. The other two shows were Crusher Joe, known as Kurassh? J? where the Locust battlemech and Galleon light tank designs came from, and the series Super Dimensional Fortress Macross known in Japan as Ch? Jik? Y?sai Makurosu, which actually translates as Super Spacetime Fortress Macross, which is of course the show that was the basis for the TV series Robotech by Harmony Gold.

Govt To Invoke NSA Against Fake Drug Dealers

Govt To Invoke NSA Against Fake Drug DealersLUCKNOW: The Uttar Pradesh government on Friday decided to invoke the National Security Act (NSA) against offenders found engaged in dealing/trading in, or manufacturing fake drugs in the state. The extreme measure shall be resorted to in case of grave and extreme cases to rein in the drug mafia.

The decision by a high-level committee follows the Allahabad High Court rap for slackness in containing spurious drug racket and a two-month deadline to the government to set its house in order. The court’s warning comes at an opportune time when everything — from fake blood to fake life-saving antibiotics like Ciprofloxiciline, third generation of Cephalosporin and Carbpanem, substandard painkiller Voveron and insulin to a simple paracetamol tablet — find a ready and unsuspecting market.

Asia Stocks Fall As Dollar Rises

HONG KONG: Most Asian stock markets fell Thursday as the dollar strengthened after the Federal Reserve signaled it would start undoing some of its emergency supports next year as the economic recovery gathers pace.
Major indexes were down by about 1 percent or less. The dollar gained ground against most currencies, sending the euro to its lowest point in months and weighing on commodity prices.
The Fed, while reiterating its pledge to keep interest rates near zero, noted improvements in the economy at the close of a two-day meeting Wednesday and detailed plans to begin removing a number of its extraordinary lending measures in 2010.
The news stirred speculation the central bank might increase interest rates sooner than expected, leading many investors to shift back into the greenback. America’s ultra-low borrowing costs have contributed to a weaker dollar this year, with traders selling it for higher-yielding assets like stocks, commodities and foreign currencies.
In Japan, the Nikkei 225 stock average shed 13.61 points, or 0.1 percent, to 10,163.80, and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng slid 260.26 points, or 1.2 percent, to 21,351.48.
Elsewhere, Korea’s Kospi dropped 1 percent to 1,647.84, Taiwan’s market lost 0.1 percent and India’s Sensex was down 0.4 percent. Shanghai’s market tumbled 2.3 percent to 3,180.86.
Australia’s market bucked the trend, adding 0.2 percent.
Wednesday in the U.S., the Dow Jones industrial average fell 10.88, or 0.1 percent, to 10,441.12, after rising as much as 58 points.
The broader Standard & Poor’s 500 index rose 1.25, or 0.1 percent, 1,109.18. It is up 22.8 percent for the year. The Nasdaq composite index rose 5.86, or 0.3 percent, to 2,206.91.
U.S. futures retreated, suggesting a lower open on Wall Street Thursday.
The dollar, meanwhile, traded higher at 90.05 yen from 89.75 yen. The euro dropped over 0.8 percent to $1.4413 from $1.4534.
Oil prices fell in Asia, with benchmark crude for January delivery down 37 cents to $72.29. On Wednesday, the contract surged by $1.97.

Oil Prices Fall Following Rally

LONDON : Oil prices fell Thursday on profit-taking, a day after rising sharply as official data revealed strengthening energy demand in the United States, the world’s biggest consumer, traders said.
Brent North Sea crude for delivery in February dropped 37 cents to 73.92 dollars a barrel in early London trading. The January contract had expired on Wednesday, priced at 73.55 dollars.
New York’s main futures contract, light sweet crude for delivery in January, slid 40 cents to 72.26 dollars a barrel on Thursday.
Oil prices had soared by 1.50 dollars on Wednesday following the latest snapshot of US energy inventories.
The US Department of Energy (DoE) said distillate stockpiles sank by a heavier-than-expected 2.9 million barrels last week, indicating a pick-up in heating fuel demand.
Data for distillates, which include heating oil, are being closely tracked amid the start of the northern hemisphere winter.
