ISLAMABAD: A three-day anti-polio drive has launched across the country today.
At least 33 million children will be administered the dose of trivalent vaccine drops provided by UNICEF during the campaign. This will be the sixth anti polio drive in a year in which children throughout the country including Swat will administered polio drops.
More then 84,000 teams have been constituted to administer polio drops to children at doorstep. The polio camps also established at bus stands, railway stations and airports. According to health departmentm number of polio cases in the country has reached to 78.

PESHAWAR: Hundreds of people have migrated during relaxation of curfew due to operation against militants in Bara, a tehsil of Khyber Agency.
Today is the sixth day of the operation against the militants in tehsil Bara.
More than 70 militants were killed and several injured while 107 arrested in the operation by the forces.
Besides, 54 centres of militants have also been destroyed.
On Saturday, the fifth day of the operation, curfew was relaxed for the first time during which hundreds of people migrated from Bara and shifted to Peshawar and Jamrud.
Today, curfew will be relaxed from 4-00 pm to 7-00 pm in tehsil Bara.

KARACHI: Foreign investors continued to buy shares at the local capital market in this week as well.
The foreign investors, in the current week, made a net purchase of 18.4 million dollars worth of shares. According to KSE figures, the foreign investors took positions in shares amounting to 30 million dollars and out of which off-loaded shares worth 12 millions. Hence, they retained positions in stocks worth 18.4 millions.
Foreign investors continued to invest in the stock market for the sixth consecutive week.

Gautam Gambhir has become the number one batsman in the latest ICC Test player rankings replacing Pakistani batsman Mohammad Yousuf. Gambhir is only the sixth Indian batsman to lead the batting table in Test match rankings.
Gambhir who has had an exceptional run in the last twelve months in the five-day format. It comes as no surprise that the Delhi South paw has risen to the top-spot in the ICC rankings. Gambhir scored two centuries against New Zealand early this year. This has also contributed to his rise in rankings.

In what will be good news for nearly 30 lakh serving and retired armed forces personnel, the Indian government has moves closer to one rank one pension scheme for all defence personnel. The Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Thursday (June 25) chaired a meeting on one-rank one pension which was attended by Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee, Defence Minister AK Antony and Prithviraj Chavan.
Committee of Secretaries headed by Cabinet Secretary K M Chandrasekhar on Thursday made a presentation to the Prime Minister. The move will affect 14 lakh serving defence personnel and 23 lakh retired personnel and will mean an annual bill of Rs 1,200 crore. The government to work out differential in pensions paid to defence personnel retired before 1996 to account for the Sixth Pay Commission impact.
