LAHORE: Jamaat-e-Islami, condemning the suicide attack in Peshawar, has urged upon government of changing its policy while combating US war in order to avoid collateral damage of its own innocent people, Geo news reported.

In a statement, released form Lahore, leaders JI said innocent people have been left under shadow of terrorism to sacrifice their lives while government officials are enjoying bulletproof vehicles.

They called for implementation on joint resolution of parliament to rid of the menace of terrorism, statement said.

Later, they preyed for injured victims and for those people who lost their lives in Peshawar blast, it added.

KARACHI: Home Minister Sindh, Dr Zulfiqar Mirza has directed Inspector General Police (IGP), Sindh to ensure the deputation of the Eliot Force commandoes for the security of sensitive spots including Pak army and navy installations.

According to Sindh Home Department circular, Provincial Home Minister, Dr Zulfiqar Mirza directed IGP, Sindh, Babar Khattak for strict implementation of Section-144.

The Provincial Minister directed to depute Eliot Force commandoes for the security of Pak army and Navy installations, oil terminals, gas fields and coast guard offices besides giving priority to the security of the army buildings.

He also stressed the need of snap checking to keep a watchful eye on suspected persons and vehicles near sensitive spots.

Police force continues snap checking of suspected persons and vehicles on various parts of the capital city.

Number of policemen has been increased on sensitive public and private installations and other key spots in the city.

Police is not only snap checking the vehicles, but also frisking the suspected wayfarers.

Meanwhile, duration of police patrolling has been raised in fear of the possible terror acts in the city, whereas recently formed Emergency Response Force is on high alert.

MUZAFFARABAD: Prime Minister (PM) Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has said that Pakistan principled stance on Kashmir issue remains unchanged and Islamabad will continue to play its political, diplomatic and moral role for the independence of the occupied Kashmir.

Talking to various ceremonies in Muzaffarabad Thursday, PM said that giving autonomy to Gilgit Baltistan will not in any way affect the Kashmir cause.

ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJ) has formed a 14-member larger bench in regard of issuing the contempt of court notice to the PCO judges of the higher judiciary.

The newly formed larger bench of SC will give ruling regarding the issuance of contempt of court notices to the PCO judges of SC.

It may be recalled that Supreme Court Office pleaded CJ Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry to clarify whether the contempt of court notices will be issued only to High Court Judges under 5th October 2009 ruling or the same notices should also be issued to those judges of SC who were working as judges before 3rd November 2007 and they took oath under PCO, violating the verdict of the 7-member bench of SC ruled on 3rd November 2007.

According to Supreme Court Office, CJ said it appeared as a clerical error and that’s why he has ordered to present the case before the court on Friday for taking proper action.

PESHAWAR: Security forces pounded many bases of extremists in South Waziristan killing two terrorists and injuring many others.

According to sources bombing destroyed an important base of the extremists in S-Waziristan and killed two terrorists.

Amid the fears of a possible operation in the area tribesmen have taken refuge in various parts of North Waziristan besides Bannu, Tank and Dera Ismail Khan.

Meanwhile flights of drones continue in South and North Waziristan.

WANA: Tribesmen continue to migrate from various areas of South Waziristan in fear of an apprehending operation here.

According to sources a large number of tribesmen is taking refuge – leaving their houses in Luddha, Posh Ziarat and other adjacent areas – in various parts of Dera Ismail Khan, Bannu and North Waziristan after Security Forces announced directives to vacate the area from a local radio station.

Political official said people have been advised to vacate these areas as action against terrorist has become inevitable in Maken and Mehsud.

QUETTA: No progress has been noticed in the investigation into firing occurred three days earlier in Natha Singh Street located on Jinnah Road here in Quetta, Geo news revealed on Saturday.

According to details, at least five persons were shot dead and a man sustained injuries when unknown armed militants opened indiscriminate firing here three days ago.

Injured person, later ascertained as Aamir, is still receiving medical treatment at hospital.

Two cases against unknown offenders were registered in Quetta city police station and scores of people were nabbed from various parts of Quetta during search operations in connection with firing incident but any progress in investigation into cases has yet to be made, neither could the actual culprits be booked thus far, sources added.

LAHORE: There are reports regarding shortage of patrol and diesel in various parts of the country, particularly in Punjab and many petrol pumps have run short of fuel.

Talking to Geo News, Chairman of Petroleum Dealers Association Abdul Sami Khan said fuel stations are being delivered 60 to 70 percent fuel less than the demand in cities including Mianwali, Sargoda and Multan, while Gilgit is also facing the similar problem.

According to the dealers, petroleum products are available in black market in some places including Mianwli.

Meantime Oil Marketing Companies assert there is no discontinuation in the supply.

LAHORE: As many as 669 gastro patients have been brought to different hospitals in various parts of Lahore, Geo News reported Friday.

According to Health Department, these patients include 415 children and 245 adults.

At least 82 patients were taken to Meo Hospital, 169 to General Hospital, 160 to Children Hospital, 86 to Services Hospital, 17 to Ganga Ram Hospital, 18 to Munshi Hospital and 11 patients were brought to Gharki and Shalimar hospitals each.
