CHARSADDA: At least 24 people were killed and 42 others injured in a powerful car bomb blast at Farooq-e-Azam Chawk in Charsadda, Geo News quoted hospital sources as saying Tuesday.
The District Hospital sources told Geo News that the death toll could rise.
Talking to Geo News, Dr Manzoorullah said at least 24 people killed in the blast. The hospital sources said at least 20 bodies were brought to Charsadda hospital.
According to police sources, an explosive-laden car was used for the blast. The blast was so power that the windowpanes of nearby buildings broke.
According to hospital sources, the deceased include women and children.
The blast place is usually crowded one; therefore, a large number of people were the victims of the blast. The people on their own kick-started the relief activities and rushed the bodies and injured to the nearby hospital. The police personnel put security cordon around the blast site.
The state of emergency has been declared in the hospital.
According to hospital sources, at least 33 injured were brought to District Hospital; however, some injured are in critical condition. While, 20 other critically injured were rushed to the Lady Reading Hospital in Peshawar, of them, six are in crucial condition. Also, six children are said to be among the injured.
DPO Charsadda said the blast may be suicide attack.

LAHORE: Ameer Jamat-e-Islami (JI) Syed Munawar Hassan has vowed continuation in staging countrywide peaceful protest against government policies favoring US, saying, we will keep taking out rallies on streets, Geo news reported.
In a statement, he said NRO-torn leaders could possibly become slaves of United States but the nation will never ever bow down to slavery.
“US desperately yearns to tear apart Pakistan’s image as an Islamic state”, he warned, adding, “Amendment in blasphemy law, permission to Qadiyanis for stepping up anti-Islamic activities and repealing Objective Resolution for constitution are all conspiracies against interests of Islamic state of Pakistan”.
India, US and Israel have joint hands to trigger panic in Pakistan, he informed and claimed Pakistan army has finalized preparations to launch more deadly operations in Southern Punjab, Mureedkay and Quetta following South Waziristan Agency (SWA) offensive.

MIRPURKHAS: At least 27 foreigners were arrested from Degree area of Mirpurkhas, Geo news reported on Friday.
According to media sources, the arrested persons were Uzbek nationals who were laborers working with a local company.

ISLAMABAD: At least two persons were killed and eight injured during firing inflicted by argument amid sporting in between two rival groups in Tarnol area of federal capital Islamabad on Friday, Geo news reported.
According to police sources, two cricket teams were playing cricket when players had stiff arguments, which soon turned into scuffle and as a result, two persons were killed in exchange of firing and another 8 were injured.
Police said they have transferred bodied and injured people to PIMS hospital but others involved in fighting succeeded to flee while case, against unknown culprits, have been registered and investigation was underway.

ISLAMABAD: The leader of opposition in National Assembly Chaudhry Nisar, dispelling the amendments in Senate Standing Committee for Law and Peace (SSCLP), has said Friday this action if taken from Speaker will be confronted and later challenged.
He said ratification of NRO through parliament will be nothing short of historical blunder.
Talking to media men here in parliament, Chaudhry Nisar said government has played havoc with constitution by attaining more representation in SSCLP than average and reelection of committee will be sought in parliament.
“NRO is a black law”, he said adding, “It will face protest in and outside parliament”.
Ruling leaders have multiplied national grievances instead of their resolution, he concluded.

LAHORE: The fire broke out in a chemical godown, located on Multan Road, has been brought under control after hours of rescue efforts, Geo news reported on Friday morning.
According to rescue sources, more than 30 fire tenders took part in rescue efforts meanwhile, especial foam was also used in extinguishing fire as the fire was combustive to water.
Sources said the fire was erupted in a chemical storeroom on Thursday noon due to unknown reasons and engulfed the entire warehouse within no time and was so fierce and scorching that it shattered the windowpanes of the nearby buildings.
More than 100 firefighters of fire brigade workers, as many as 30 vehicles of 1122 rescue teams and Pakistan Railways participated in rescue efforts, meanwhile, electricity and telephone systems of nearby areas got broke down and traffic was halted on Multan Road, sources said.
An especial type of foam was also used during fire extinguishing efforts due to chemical’s nature of being combustive to water, sources added.

QUETTA: A blast occurred in Murree bazaar of Kohlu but no causality was reported.
Police sources said unknown persons planted an explosive in a house that exploded with a huge noise shattering the windowpanes of nearby buildings. However, no loss of life was reported in the incident.
